FroYo Store to Benefit Girl Empowerment Opening in MIami

Berenblum Busch Architects, the Miami-based global architecture, planning and interior design firm, has reimagined a former warehouse in Wynwood into the future frozen yogurt store, g.l.o.w. The first location in the U.S., the store’s design celebrates young girls, the frozen yogurt process, and the story of Global G.L.O.W. (Girls Leading Our World), a nonprofit that equips young girls with strategies for life and leadership development.  One hundred percent of the store’s profits will benefit the nonprofit.

BBA’s design captures the power of femininity. Inspired by the natural, clean, contemporary and minimal design of the frozen sweet treat, the color scheme features soft tones like coral, pink and peach to create a feminine atmosphere. Delicate frames for the doors, shelving, menu, and picture frames were also incorporated to create softness. BBA gave the space an edge by adding black lines or frames, a natural concrete counter, concrete tables outside, and incorporating black accents in the restroom.

“The light and bright design represents the girls’ futures, while the concrete and black accents represent their strengths and provides a break from the femininity,” says BBA Founding Principal, Claudia Busch. “Creating this balance was important in order to make everyone feel welcomed and invite them to celebrate young girls.”

In its design of the 200-square-foot space, BBA maintained the character of the warehouse through high exposed ceilings, and concrete flooring. The store will feature a large gallery wall displaying pictures of the Global G.L.O.W. girls. Outdoors, plants will line the store’s entrance to enhance a natural effect, and a polka dot-patterned canopy will provide shading. The store’s exterior will also be dressed in a large artwork by local artist Tatiana Suarez.

g.l.o.w. is slated to open this summer at 97 NW 25th Street.
